Our age-appropriate classes combine games, videos, crafts, music and activities to bring the Bible to life and equip kids to know God is real, grow to be like Jesus, and show his love to others.
CCYG is a community-based youth group who partners with local churches. We create a high energy atmosphere for students which opens doors to spiritual conversations. We have separate programs for both Middle School and High School age groups.
Our catechism (for short we call it CAT) experience is geared for middle school children (6th to 8th grade), although if there are any high school children that are interested, they are cordially invited to be a part of this Christian growth experience. The course is 13 weeks. We use Alpha Youth combined with the “Six Chief Parts” of Luther’s Small Catechism. We meet right after the 10:30 am service on Sundays. We start with a lunch together and then launch into our topic for the day. We end each session with a tie-in with the Catechism. We send the youth away with a practical assignment based on the lesson of the day.
We usually begin CAT in late September and finish sometime in February. We hold a CAT retreat towards the end of our time together where we combine fun activities with discussion learning and wrapping things up. CAT prepares our youth for Confirmation where they publicly confess their faith in Jesus Christ before the congregation and enter into full membership in our congregation. If you have more questions about CAT please call the church office and our secretary will connect you either with our pastor or our youth director.
